Jacob Mickelfield

Clockmaker, of Goldhanger and Southminster

Jacob Mickelfield, or Micklefield was a clockmaker who lived and worked in The Square at Goldhanger in the mid 1700s. His name is spelt both ways on his clocks and on documents seen relating to him. Today the house is a listed building and shows on the Electoral Role as No.2 Head Street, being the first house on the north side of village square. The house is now called “The Clockmakers”...

Mickelfield's house is on the right (postcard from the early 1900s)
